SPCA Adoption
At the SPCA Suncoast our first priority is to care for the animals in need at our shelter. Our second priority is to assist each person who enters our facility to find a Lifelong Friend. Our adoption counselors are ready to help you find the dog or cat that suits your lifestyle and will provide you with years of joy and companionship. Toward that end, we ask a few simple questions prior to approving any of our adoptions:

- Are you at least 21 years of age and employed?
- Do you own your home? If a renter, landlord approval will be required.
- Are there other animals in the household? If so, name of veterinarian.
- Are other animals in your household up to date on vaccinations?
- Are your current pets up to date on heartworm preventative?
- Are there children in the household?
- Will your new pet be kept inside?
- Have you ever adopted from us before?
- Is the entire family in agreement with the adoption?
Policies
We try to place healthy animals with good dispositions, therefore we ask that the following policies be followed:
- We do not adopt dogs as guard dogs or hunting dogs.
- We require that all animals be kept inside.
- Certain breeds may require a fenced yard.
- We do not adopt any animal as a gift, however gift certificates are available.
- Any animal who is not already spayed or neutered, must be within one month of adoption.
- The SPCA Suncoast reserves the right to refuse any adoption.
